As a district leader, Angie Schaal, Ed.S., led an instructional shift grounded in the Science of Reading, including HQIM adoption, targeted professional learning, and the systems needed to sustain the work. K-3 state assessment proficiency rose from 57.4% to 76.9% across the district. The work was recognized with a visit from Ohio Governor Mike DeWine, who highlighted the district as a state model for evidence-based literacy implementation. A+ Educational Consulting is a Rivet Education approved professional learning partner, and has delivered structured literacy and explicit instruction training to more than 250 educators at Cognia-accredited American international schools in Honduras and Mexico.
